Today is World Environment Day. A nice perk to Photo A Day is all of the things I am learning along the way. I'm not sure I've ever heard of this day before. But here is some information about it.
The theme this year is Think.Eat.Save. According to the above site, "every year 1.3 billion tonnes of food is wasted. This is equivalent to the same amount produced in the whole of sub-Saharan Africa. At the same time, 1 in every 7 people in the world go to bed hungry and more than 20,000 children under the age of 5 die daily from hunger." Food waste is an enormous strain on our environment. So this year's theme encourages us to reduce our foodprint. Think before you eat and help save the environment.
