day 20. Man-Made

One of my favorite trails near Columbia is one of the shortest. The Devil's Icebox Trail at Rock Bridge State Park is a short half mile hike but has wonderful geologic features. The trail leads visitors over a 63 foot natural tunnel known as the Rock Bridge and a double sinkhole entrance to Devil's Icebox and Connor's Cave. The steep hills would be very difficult to hike if not for this man-made boardwalk.

The next time I'm here... I'm going to count the stairs. Because there are a LOT of them.

And I'm so glad they are here. The man-made walkway protects what's not man-made so we can enjoy the trail for years to come.
